Progress on FHB’s dress

FIONA will be blessed on Easter Sunday–hopefully in the blessing dress which I have been working on for months.  I have finally gotten it to the point where, as I told Rijen, if I don’t get it finished, we still could creatively wrap it around her and it might not look so bad.  Of course, I don’t know if we want to set a precedent about wearing sleeveless dresses to church.  Thankfully it is Wednesday and I do have four more days to work on it.  I feel confident that I can get the dress done, and perhaps even the coat!

OF course this all takes longer when there is a newborn to care for….

Asleep...to the rhythmic hum of the sewing machine..

…and she makes it very clear when it is time to stop!

HOWEVER, by 10 PM Tuesday night, I had got the following accomplished on the blessing dress:

  • Finishing touches on the bodice
  • Stitched the skirt to the bodice
  • Consulted with Marilyn about material for the slip (Imperial Batiste vs. the original Swiss Batiste)
  • Cut out and sewed slip – went with the heavier weight Imperial
  • Sewed slip to the dress
